Twin Lakes Reservoir & Colorado Trail
Twin Lakes, CO

Twin Lakes Reservoir & Colorado Trail
Don’t be fooled by the somewhat funky state of Leadville and the surrounding area where mine waste and tailings dominate the scenery. This trail is 17 miles southwest of Leadville near the road that leads to Independence Pass. It is surrounded by superb views of a towering ring of mountains: Mount Elbert (highest peak in the state), Parry Peak, 13,000-foot Rinker and Twin Peaks, and 13,461-foot Quail Mountain. It is an easy out-and-back trek in a great setting that is ideal for families or for a quick jaunt, with a beach and swimming.
