Tundra Nature Trail
Estes Park, CO

Tundra Nature Trail
The Tundra Nature Trail is the perfect classroom for hikers who want to know more about life above timberline. The high ridge spanned by the asphalt path, and the layered rock formation at its end, allows 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. The winds area ever-present on the naked slopes, offering visitors a taste of the rigor and remoteness of alpine wildlands. If you think you'll be alone on this trail, however, you'll be disappointed . This is an immensely popular route. Handicapped accessible (for hardy wheelchair hikers), and featuring relatively little elevation gain, it is frequented by an abundance of park visitors. Still, the expansiveness of the views, the fascinating mushroom rock formations and the wonderful interpretive signs make the route very inviting.
