The Hell Roaring Trail
A day hike to the Hell Roaring divide or a wilderness route to Avalanche Creek. The Hell Roaring Trail is used primarily by elk hunters during the fall hunting season. The trail receives limited maintenance, and in some places it requires cross-country navigation through alpine meadows. The high country portions of this route are quite scenic and rewarding, and the linkage to Avalanche Creek allows the potential for loop trips or extended point-to-point hikes. Hike the trail from north to south to avoid the mule-killer grade up from the Avalanche Creek valley.
