The Colorado Trail: Clear Creek Road to North Cottonwood Creek
In this segment, the CT continues its path along the eastern flank of the Sawatch Range with more spectacular ups and downs than the previous segment. In fact, you will spend a considerable amount of time above the 11,000-foot level. Three fourteeners (Mounts Oxford, Harvard and Columbia) are within 3 miles of the CT along this segment. Approximately 16 miles of this segment are within the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area, so bicyclists need to divert to the bicycle detour. It is a beautiful area with plenty of water and campsites, so there is no need to hurry up or down its several steep climbs.
