Tanner Peak
This trail’s split personality offers wow-inducing views of Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and the Sangre de Cristo Range, crossing through five of Colorado’s nine major ecosystems, from semi-desert to subalpine forest.However, you will share the steep and eroded trail with ATVs and dirt bikes, leaving you perplexed or appalled (take your pick) at how the Forest Service can allow such damage. This trail is a good reminder that not all roadless areas are off-limits to motorized use. Even so, you will discover why local hikers cherish Tanner Peak.
