Stealey Mountain Trail to Stealey Mountain
An easy, low-elevation hike mostly outside the wilderness area with impressive views of the west faces of Courthouse Mountain and Chimney Rock, and a high level of solitude. Although located entirely outside the Uncompahgre Wilderness, this hike is included in this book because it is an easy and pleasant day hike that also provides a possible point of access into the Cow Creek area of the wilderness. Although two different trailheads are described here, the approach via the east trailhead is recommended.
