St. Vrain Glacier Trail
This great two-day backpack ventures into what was once a huge glacier valley. Wildflowers, waterfalls, towering rock walls, alpine lakes, and awesome views to Sawtooth and Elk Tooth Mountains are the main attractions of this hike. Trail conditions: The lower part of the trail is rocky in some sections. The trail is well traveled and sees a fair amount of traffic during weekends in the summer months. The last 0.25 mile of the trail to Lake Gibraltar is almost nonexistent, and you will have to negotiate a large talus field up to the lake.
