Square Top Mountain
Georgetown, CO

Square Top Mountain
The hike to this almost fourteener is entirely above treeline and the views of “The Sawtooth” are incredible. By July, the snow has melted, tundra flowers are in bloom and high peaks, like Square Top, are the perfect summer adventure. With a high start from Guanella Pass, this entire hike is above the trees. Being almost a "fourteener," Square Top Mountain offers incredible summit views. You will want your camera out for “The Sawtooth,” the serrated ridge between Mounts Bierstadt and Evans, on the east side of the pass. Square Top’s flat summit ridge meets the Continental Divide at its higher, western end, making it one of the loftiest summits on the entire Divide. A herd of mountain goats roams the Divide’s ridges, between Square Top and Loveland Pass. Try this outing in the fall as well, when aspen along the Guanella Pass Road are Front Range favorites.
