South Rim Loop
Roxborough State Park is a land of red rock slabs jutting up from the ground like upside down spear points. The South Rim Loop Trail circles the south end of Roxborough first winding through Gambel oak past some of the huge rocks. Crossing over grassland and past ponderosa pine forest, the trail ascends a ridge for an almost aerial view of the interesting rock formations. The geology is easy to see and examine from up here. On clear days, skyscrapers to the north form a contrasting backdrop to the natural towers of tilted rocks.
