Silver Dollar Lake
The Front Range of the Rockies contains several great hiking trails, a fair number of which are superb for wildflower viewers. Silver Dollar Lake Trail is one—and it is also short and scenic, culminating at a high-alpine lake. During peak bloom, close to 100 wildflower species grow along the 1.5-mile stretch of trail. Flower displays are usually still glorious well into August. The early-season hiker may encounter lingering snowbanks. Wildflower alert: A moveable feast of nearly 100 wildflowers species.
