Silver Creek
A day hike to the top of a high pass east of Mount Yale. This leg of the Colorado Trail climbs from the North Fork of Cottonwood Creek to a basin at the base of Mount Yale, then climbs to the divide. From the ridgetop, the next segment of the Colorado Trail is described under Avalanche Gulch. The upper basin of Silver Creek makes a challenging day hike destination. Truly hardcore hikers can continue to the top of the divide for fine southward views of 14,196-foot Mount Princeton and either retrace their steps or continue south on the Avalanche Gulch hike to make a point-to-point day hike that ends up on Cottonwood Pass Road.
