Sandbeach Lake Trailhead: Sandbeach Lake
The sandy shore of Sandbeach Lake is a nice reward for this uphill trek. And that’s a good thing, since the elevation gain on this hike is almost 2,000 feet. Its trailhead location, nestled in the south side of Mount Meeker, is a quiet setting for a day hike or an overnight camping trip. The Wild Basin area, near Allenspark, is usually not crowded and is reminiscent of the earlier days in the park. Sandbeach Lake Trail is an easy trail to follow since there are four landmarks that are spaced pretty evenly apart. The first is a trail intersection at 1.5 miles, a creek crossing at 1 more mile, another creek crossing in another mile, and then the lake in 1 more mile. Outstanding Features: Unique alpine lake setting, headwaters of Sandbeach Creek, views of North St. Vrain Creek drainage, Campers Creek, Hunters Creek
