Sand Creek Greenway Trail
Denver, CO

Sand Creek Greenway Trail
The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is a 13-mile greenbelt that connects the High Line Canal in Aurora at Tower Road and Colfax Avenue with the Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. This greenbelt completes a loop of 50 miles of off-street urban trails in the northeast Denver metro area. The city of Aurora acquired the Star K Ranch, which the Sand Creek Greenway traverses, in the 1990s. The land is still mostly in its natural state and consists of meadows interspersed with stands of cottonwoods. Sand Creek flows in a deep gulch south of the trail but is accessible on several footpaths that descend into the creek gully. Your pet will enjoy exploring the slow-moving waters and the sandy bottom of this creek.
