Rock Pond to Werley Ranch Loop
The Rock Pond to Werley Ranch Loop takes you into the heart of Mueller State Park and Dome Rock State Wildlife Area. Descending through forests of aspen, limber pine, and Douglas fir, the trail follows old ranch roads, closed to the motorized public. A side trip brings you to Brook Pond, reflecting big rounded rock formations of Pikes Peak granite. The trail continues through grasslands and meadows, popular with the abundant elk population. The old Werley Ranch is an excellent lunch spot, giving you a chance to reflect on ranch life. The loop continues back, ascending on singletrack and old ranch roads.
