Redcloud Peak Summit Trail – Sunshine Peak Traverse
The colorful palette of the San Juans is on display, so bring your camera. Even the clear waters of Silver Creek contribute, illuminating the gray and white rocks of the stream bed with flashes of silver when the sun shines. All the natural beauty is easy on the eyes (and the knees, thanks to a wellmade trail). The loop described includes a shortcut down rocky talus that eliminates the need to reverse your route. If you are hesitant to plod down a loose, rocky slope, it’s easy enough to go back the way you came. No matter how you visit these two 14ers, it’s a trip well worth taking.
