Rattlesnake Gulch Trail—Eldorado Canyon State Park
Follow old Crags Boulevard up Rattlesnake Gulch to the ghost of the Crags Hotel, a popular and luxurious resort in the early 1900s. Winding up the steep gulch, one wonders how early autos could make it! The trail provides wonderful views of the sheer walls of Eldorado Canyon, a world-renowned rock-climbing area. Golden eagles, bald eagles (winter), turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, peregrine falcons, prairie falcons, and sharp-shinned hawks soar on thermals and swoop down on their prey.
