Rabbit Mountain: Eagle Wind Trail
Rabbit Mountain is an excellent hike on an exposed plateau that offers views of the Colorado prairie and three amazing mountain ranges: Indian Peaks, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Continental Divide. It’s easy enough for families, yet interesting enough for seasoned hikers. Prairie dogs and their burrows line the edges of the trail and raptors are often seen flying overhead, scouting these dogs. Signs at the trailhead warn of rattlesnakes, since they are common around Rabbit Mountain and like to sun themselves on warm boulders and sunny slopes. Be aware of their possible presence.
