Quandary Peak
Range upon range of peaks unfold for your viewing pleasure from the top of this lofty fourteener. Colorado is full of wonderful mountains to climb but the famous "fourteeners" get most of the attention, visited by some 200,000 people a year. As a result, foot traffic has had a negative impact on the fragile alpine environment. Quandary Peak is one of the easiest and most popular, both summer and winter. The route described here is recommended by the Forest Service and the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI), a partnership among nonprofit organizations and public agencies to protect and preserve the natural integrity of Colorado's Fourteeners. The route is clear and there are no special dangers on the trail, which leads all the way to the summit. It replaces the former “Monte Cristo” route which crossed private property and currently is undergoing restoration work by the CFI.
