Pollock Bench Trail
When people think of Colorado, the state’s magnificent mountain ranges traditionally take all the credit. And deservedly so—Colorado owns the highest average elevation in the country, and its alpine acreage is nothing short of magical. Ah, but secret treasures in out-of-the-way locales are testament to just how diverse this beautiful state truly is. Far to the west are magnificent painted canyons, vast mesas, and deep winding gorges offering a playground to desert lovers. The Pollock Bench Loop in the Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness follows a long, curving cliff face, moves through dense junipers and piñon, and offers terrific views of the “forgotten” canyons in western Colorado.
