Pacific Peak Summit Trail
Blue River, CO

Pacific Peak Summit Trail
Breckenridge was once synonymous with mining, thanks to its hearty gold deposits. The old sluice and cabins at the start of this trail hearken back to the days of the great gold rush. Above the mines, Mohawk Lakes decorate a broad, colorful basin. It’s a neat effect to come up to Mohawk Lake and have it appear at eye level, similar to the “infinity pools” popular at high-end resorts. A solid scramble leads to a very high unnamed alpine lake at 13,420 feet. Finish the climb to the top on a scenic ridge. There are several moderate options available for those who’d like to grab a few more summits.
