Outlook Ridge and Lost Pond Loop
Just as a well-designed museum is the perfect forum for displays of fine art, Mueller State Park and Wildlife Area is an unsurpassed showcase for the natural wonders of Colorado's high country. Rock outcrops on the Outlook Ridge Trail offer picture-perfect views of the gray and green ramparts of Pikes Peak, as well as of the high valleys spreading west from its summit. Views are curtailed by silent forest on the second half of the hike—a vital woodland that tints the sunlight a pale shade of green. Lost Pond is secluded and bucolic, a small watering hole for deer and songbirds ringed in waist-high grasses and wildflowers for most of the hiking season.
