North Crestone Lake
Forming a 70-mile-long crest of 13,000- and 14,000-foot peaks, the Sangre de Cristo Range encompasses some truly extraordinary mountain terrain. Nestled in glacial valleys on the steep western slopes of the range are numerous alpine lakes, most of which are accessible via established trails. North Crestone Lake, which is situated at the head of the Lake Fork of Crestone Creek, makes for a memorable day hike or overnight excursion.
