Niwot Mountain & Ridge Trail
Towering above Brainard Lake, this high ridge can be a fun adventure and offers a grand view of the majestic Indian Peaks and Longs Peak without having to travel the length of Brainard Lake to the other trailhead(s). This climb is best attempted on a calm, warm day since Niwot Ridge and Mountain are often windswept; bring extra layers if it is fall or spring. There are three approaches to Niwot Ridge (one of which isn’t covered in this book): Left Hand Park Reservoir Road or Sourdough and Little Raven trails. Both originate at the entrance station near the Red Rock Trailhead parking lot.
