Mount Thomas Trail
The Mount Thomas summit, a bump on Red Table Mountain, offers spectacular 360-degree views of the central Colorado Rockies! Overwhelming views stretch from the Maroon Bells and Elk Mountains in the southwest, circling northwest to the Flat Tops then Interstate 70 north of Eagle. The Gore Range rises in the northeast with the Sawatch Mountains towering in the east and southeast. Cattle still graze on some of the grassy southern slopes. Beautiful alpine wildflowers decorate the upper ridges. The trail crosses open areas for about 1.6 miles, so be sure to make the summit and be heading down before thunderstorms hit.
