Mount Goliath Natural Area
The Bristlecone Pine Loop Trail and Alpine Garden near the nature center are recent additions adjacent to the Mount Goliath Natural Area. This hike explores the new trails then continues through an ancient bristlecone pine forest and alpine tundra with its fantastic tiny wildflowers. (Peak bloom is mid-July.) An illustrated flower brochure is available at the nature center. To return, hike a little higher on Alpine Garden for great 360-degree views, then rejoin the Pesman Trail down to the nature center. Much of this hike is above treeline so plan your trip to avoid thunderstorms and lightning.
