Mount Elbert - Colorado Highpoint
Highpoint rank by height: 3rd. The Colorado mountains experience early afternoon thunderstorms almost daily during the spring and summer months. Plan to be heading down from the highpoint by noon to avoid hail, lightning and heavy rains. Also, it can snow unexpectedly any time during the year. Be prepared for inclement weather.
