Mitchell Creek Loop Trail
The top of this pass is an unexpected treasure trove of great trails for hiking and biking. Its railroading history dates back to the narrow gauge lines of the 19th century, and modern freight service lasted until late in the 20th century. The Mitchell Creek Loop uses the Tennessee Pass portion of the Colorado Trail. Part of this trail is a former railroad bed and offers great views of the Holy Cross Wilderness and Homestake Peak. It is a good trail for beginners but interesting enough in location and terrain to be fun for all hikers at all levels.
