Milner Pass Trailhead: Continental Divide Trail to Mount Ida
The summit of Mount Ida is accessed via a tundra trek that travels along the crest of the Continental Divide. Solitude is a guarantee here as are the promises of incredible scenery and the chance to see plenty of wildlife. Once at the summit, there is an equal reward waiting with views of the alpine basin of the Gorge Lakes. Most of the hike is above tree line in open tundra. This is cause for advance planning; leave early and be willing to turn back if you spot developing storms. Outstanding Features: Alpine tundra, bighorn sheep, elk, summer tundra wildflowers, expansive views, Continental Divide
