Midway Pass
A day hike to Midway Pass or a backpack to the Hunter Creek trail. This trail offers one of the more obscure routes in the Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness. It climbs briskly to the alpine tundra that surrounds Midway Pass, then descends north along a timbered valley to intersect the Hunter Creek Trail. Midway Pass makes a fine destination for day hikers. The trail beyond the pass receives only light use, and may be hard to follow in places. The ford of Hunter Creek is impassable during runoff season in early summer.
