McGregor Ranch Trail
The ranch is in a unique setting on the northeast edge of Estes Park. It is a working ranch with the dual backdrops of the rock climbers’ paradise of lofty Lumpy Ridge on the north, and views of majestic Longs Peak and the Rocky Mountain National Park massif in the distance to the southwest and west. Most of the trails are easy and can be hiked year-round because of the ranch’s relatively low elevation. Enjoy gorgeous meadows with grazing stock, soaring monolithic granite cliffs, and rolling easy to moderate trails with hidden lakes tucked away on the north side of the ridge. If you’re daring and fleet of foot, you can watch the spectacle of lightning storms reaching across Estes Valley, as the usual afternoon parade of thunderstorms roll off the high mountain ridges, and you can run to shelter before they reach the ranch.
