Matterhorn Cutoff to Wetterhorn Basin Overlook
A high degree of solitude (after a half mile) and intimate views of Wetterhorn Peak. This uncrowded day hike leads to a 13,100-foot saddle on the ridge that descends to the west from Wetterhorn Peak. From the saddle an unimpaired view of the monolithic west face of Wetterhorn, as well as of the slightly lower peaks to the north of Wetterhorn Basin, gives all the incentive necessary to fight the steady uphill grade out of the valley of Matterhorn Creek.
