Maroon Creek Trail
Most hikers who have found their way into the Maroon Creek canyon head southwest, touring Maroon Lake or heading into the marvelous wilderness surrounding the Maroon Bells. This trail is the one less traveled, skipping through the flower-covered hillsides above Maroon Creek that you zipped past as you drove or took the shuttle up the canyon, and serving up great views of the steep pink-tinted slopes of the surrounding mountains. While the scenery and seclusion of the Maroon Creek Trail is marvelous, the trail surface can be somewhat treacherous, especially after a rainstorm, when water and horse hooves combine to transform the path into a pock-marked quagmire.
