Lovell Gulch
Colorado Springs, CO

Lovell Gulch
Lovell Gulch offers stimulating diversity on its 5.5-mile loop, including varied terrain, interesting ecosystems, and a wealth of wildflowers. Typically, late June is the best time to catch peak bloom. The trail begins as an easy-going connection to the loop, which at first follows a creek but then climbs to an overlook featuring Pikes Peak. The trail then undulates toward a sharp rise, crests, and drops back to the connection. Wildflower alert: Hikers discover the “blues:” wild iris, blue-eyed grass, mountain penstemon, and columbine.
