Linkins Lake Trail
Perched near the lip of a hanging valley overlooking the headwaters of the Roaring Fork River, Linkins Lake is an alpine tarn of the first order. Gem green and piercingly clear, it is clothed in the fragile flowers, grasses, and lichen that cling to the wind-whipped earth above treeline, and is guarded by the mighty Continental Divide. Tread lightly, and revel in the altitude. You will never see a lake more icily perfect, or mountains etched so dramatically against a deep-blue sky. The trail into the hanging valley that holds the lake is short but steep, and the air is very thin. Take your time and enjoy the views while you catch your breath.
