Lichen Loop Trail
Close to Boulder yet separate and serene, in the 5000-acre Heil Valley Ranch the Great Plains meet the southern Rocky Mountains. The pedestrian-only Lichen Trail loops around a rocky, pine-dotted foothill, giving hikers a sampling of the region’s grasslands, shrublands, forests, and canyons. A gentle creek provides a cooling start and end to summer hikes here.
