Horsethief Falls
In the shady depths of the evergreen forest, a steep, relentless climb leads into a secluded park, where a crystalline waterfall spills over a jumble of rocks. The cataract plays a muted symphony on the lichen-stained stone, a gentle destination for the hiker who seeks tranquility. The hike to Horsethief Falls is not entirely easy, as about 300 feet are gained quickly and without a mitigating switchback. Once in Horsethief Park, however, the path is a scenic delight, meandering through trees that part for views of aspen groves, wildflowers, and the gray bulk of Pikes Peak.
