Heart Lake Trail to James Peak
This is a wonderful two-day hike up to James Peak (13,294 feet) and two beautiful alpine lakes just outside the southern boundary of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Heart and Rogers Pass Lakes are situated in an alpine valley below the jagged, rocky summits of Haystack Mountain and James Peak. Trail conditions: The lower section of the Heart Lake Trail has smooth tread and is wet in some spots. The upper section of the trail is wet, very rocky, and filled with roots and downed trees.
