Hallam Lake Loop Trail
ACES, located in the heart of Aspen, offers visitors a close-up look at wild and permanently injured animals. This wildlife sanctuary occasionally offers the sight of a red fox or a beaver, which delights children as they walk and observe quietly in this 26-acre preserve. In the summer, plan this outing for the morning “Bird of Prey” hour, when the resident golden eagle can be observed while a naturalist describes the importance of this animal and how it is cared for. In the winter, the preserve is fun to explore on snowshoes. Before starting your hike, stop inside to scan the nature displays or learn about regularly scheduled naturalist walks here and in the Aspen area. View a cross section of a mountain stream, home to local cutthroat trout.
