Fall River Road
Today, from the first Saturday in April until road crews reopen Fall River Road after winter closure (probably early July), it is one of the few places in this national park where hikers can re-create this human-canine partnership with dog packs. To preserve this opportunity for everyone, hikers absolutely must keep their dogs leashed according to park regulations. This is one of the park’s best areas to see elk, as indicated by the heavy black scarring of aspen trunks along the paved road that runs along the Fall River valley floor. Elk strip off the bark for winter food. Highlights: Chasm Falls, avalanche site.
