Elkhead Pass
Elkhead Pass, the state’s second highest saddle, is a real grunt of a hike—but worth every bit of the effort. Located on the north end of the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, this route climbs to the head of Missouri Gulch, where it reveals some spectacular views. Additionally, three Fourteeners are located within the vicinity of the pass. While the round-trip distance listed in the information block above covers only the hike to the pass, it would be a relatively simple matter to scramble up the nearest of these elite peaks, Mount Belford.
