East Inlet Trailhead: Lake Verna Campsite
After the first few easy miles, all with a high probability of seeing moose, the trail becomes steep and takes hikers to a wonderful wooded campsite on a spectacular subalpine lake: Lake Verna. This overnight destination is unique because it’s ringed by high alpine peaks, and the campsite itself is the highest elevation of all the campsites on this trial. Lake Verna also signifies the end of the maintained trail; the trail does continue, but it’s not maintained by Rocky Mountain National Park. Outstanding Features: Creeks, lakes, waterfalls, optimum chance of seeing moose; views of numerous mountain peaks including Mt. Alice and Mt. Craig
