Eagle’s Nest Natural Area Trail
This area makes up in beauty what it lacks in size—towering rock formations, access to the north fork of the Poudre River, a pretty riparian bottom land, an easy rolling trail, and sweeping views almost all the way to Wyoming. The trail has no shade and so is best on cool days or with an early start on hot ones. The area features two loops (the Three-Bar and the OT trails) connected in a figure-eight. The trails are named after former ranching brands. The sweeping views of the soaring rock formations that hide the eagle’s nest and the sparkling trickle that is the north fork of the Poudre River make this a worthwhile, hilly trek.
