Devils Thumb Pass
The vistas are forever on this magnificent ridge walk along the spine of the continent. Here is a delightful, scenic ridge walk, above timberline, between two high passes on the Continental Divide Trail. The vistas are forever! Vehicles are forbidden on the trail, and dogs must be leashed in this designated Wilderness Area. The hike begins at the town site of Corona, which had a railroad station, hotel, restaurant and worker's quarters until abandoned in 1928. The route follows the legendary Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, as it winds its way along the spectacular spine of the continent between Canada and Mexico. The numbers will induce blisters on your feet just thinking about them — 3,100 miles, five states, 25 National Forests, 20 Wilderness Areas, three National Parks. Only about a dozen people undertake the full, six-month journey each year.
