Deming Mountain Summit Trail
Poor Deming doesn’t see a lot of visitors. Go say hi. The approach in from either trailhead is very scenic, especially in the wild garden of the South Willow Creek Trail. Bear and moose are locals here and aren’t terribly shy, so keep your eyes open and your bear bells jingling! The Gores are a beautiful range, and this hike, no matter which option you take, will showcase that magnificence. It should be noted that the basin north of Eccles Pass is an awesome place to camp. The extra time you gain by waking up in the mountains makes a complete dayhike of the four named peaks in the area—Deming, Eccles, Buffalo, and Red Peak—a more feasible task.
