Castle and Tower Trails
Mount Falcon Park was part of the 4,000-acre mountain estate of wealthy turn-of-the-century businessman John Brisben Walker. The trail takes you to the site of the magnificent mansion he built on a ponderosa-forested point overlooking the high plains. The house burned in 1918; its stone remnants are a haunting reminder of Walker’s ambition. Further east are the skeletal remains of a summer White House Walker planned to build for U.S. presidents. It was never completed. This hike also takes you to two lookouts. The Tower, atop Mt. Falcon itself, affords great views of the plains to the east, and the Eagle Eye Shelter offers wonderful views west to towering Mount Evans.
