Butler Gulch
At peak bloom, Butler Gulch is a wildflower viewer’s dream. More than 100 species live near the cascades, seeps, and meadows. Consider carrying an extra pair of socks in your pack as you trod through sodden zones where plenty of water washes the steadily rising route. Butler Gulch Trail requires aerobic effort, but with considerable wildflower rewards. As with other trails that travel above treeline, an early start helps you avoid afternoon thunderstorms. Wildflower alert: A superb “century” hike with more than 100 wildflower species at peak bloom.
