Brush Creek
Crested Butte, CO

Brush Creek
Crested Butte is blessed with numerous trails that justify its promising designation as “The Wildflower Capital of Colorado.” There are a number of short, easygoing hikes to introduce the wildflower enthusiast to this floristically endowed region, including the early-to-bloom Brush Creek Trail just 10 minutes southeast of town. Stroll along an old dirt road, flanked with flowers, to enjoy sunshine and the colorful sloped meadow on the backside of 12,000-foot-plus Crested Butte Mountain. A path turns left, curving up through aspen trees and on around to rejoin the road forming a “keyhole” loop. Following this loop will allow you to view about five dozen different kinds of wildflowers. Wildflower Alert: A bright Persian carpet cloaks the east slope of Crested Butte Mountain.
