Beaver Lake
The contrast on this hike is striking — from the bustle of one of Colorado’s premier mountain resorts to the tranquility of the wilderness. Beaver Creek Village and the town of Avon have been expanding dramatically in the last several years. If you haven't seen this area lately, it is worth the trip. There are many large bronze sculptures, the golf course to the left of Village Road is magnificent, and the large, palatial homes in Beaver Creek Village are striking. Understandably, this pleasant trail is popular with tourists and locals, especially horseback riders. It follows along the edge of Beaver Creek Ski Resort before entering the Holy Cross Wilderness, continuing past Beaver Lake to Upper and Lower Turquoise Lakes. In the fall, the numerous aspen in this area are breathtaking.
