Avalanche Creek
A backpack along the Avalanche Creek valley. This trail follows the major drainage that runs west from the heart of the Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness. It is a long, valley-bottom trek with meadows sprinkled liberally along the timbered valley floor, ending with a steady climb to a spectacular lake basin. Connecting trails include the Hell Roaring, East Creek, Avalanche Pass, Capitol Creek, and Silver Creek Pass routes, making the Avalanche Creek Trail an integral part of any extended trip in the western half of the wilderness.
