Alluvial Fan Trail
The alluvial fan from which this trail takes its name spills down the mountainside above Horseshoe Park like the flow of a volcanic eruption. The trail is short, paved and very easy. Wheelchair-accessible for its entire length, you can make this hike a loop by walking back to the parking area along the Fall River Road. The boulders and waterway at the heart of the hike, which are interspersed with islands of sand, invite visitors to stay and play, but be careful- the river is brisk and moves quickly, and the polished stones are slippery even when they appear dry.
